Introduction

Name change from Draba reptans to Tomostima reptans (2015) (BCCDC 2015).

General:
Annual herb from a taproot; stems simple or branched, 5-20 cm tall, hairy near base with simple, branched and starlike hairs.
Leaves:
Mostly basal, in a rosette, oblanceolate to egg-shaped, 5-20 mm long, lower surface hairs branched and starlike, upper surface hairs simple and branched, hairy-fringed with stiff hairs, entire; stem leaves 1-5.
Flowers:
Racemes up to 30-flowered; flower stalks 3-10 mm long, erect, with starlike or branched hairs; petals white, slightly notched at the tips, 3-5 mm long; sepals about 2 mm long, sometimes lacking.
Fruits:
Silicles, 5-20 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, linear, glabrous to finely stiff-hairy; styles less than 0.15 mm long; seeds 18-80, 0.5-0.7 mm long.

Habitat / Range

Dry, often calcareous, cliffs, rocky slopes and forest openings in the steppe and lower montane zones; rare in SC BC, known only from Doc English Bluff (Williams Lake); E to AB and S to TX, GA, CO, NM, AZ and CA.
